Roll Up Door Faults and Maintenance Methods

Roll Up Door Faults

1.   Slow Rotation Speed or Non-rotation of the Roll Up Door

The main causes are motor burnout, circuit short-circuit, excessive motor load, or the stop button failing to spring back and reset.

The solutions for this type of fault are as follows: Replace the burnt-out motor, check and connect the circuit, move the slider of the limit switch to make it touch the switch contact, adjust the switch to the proper position, and check for any mechanical blockages.   If any are found, eliminate them.

2.   Control Failure of the Roll Up Door

This occurs when the contactor contacts are stuck, the micro-switch fails, the slider screw is loose, the backing plate is displaced, preventing the slider or nut from moving with the screw rod, the limit switch's transmission gear is damaged, or the up/down buttons are stuck.

For this kind of roller shutter door fault, the solutions are to replace the contactor, replace the micro-switch or contact plate, tighten the screw to reset the backing plate, replace the buttons, or replace the limit switch's transmission gear.

3.   The Manual Pull Chain of the Roller Shutter Door Won't Move

The causes of this fault in the Roll Up Door are a stuck chain bracket, the circular chain blocking the cross slot, or the pawl not detaching from the ratchet wheel.

Now that we know the causes of this type of roller shutter door fault, let's look at the solutions: Replace the lubricating oil, straighten out the circular chain, and adjust the relative positions of the pawl and the chain bracket.

4.   Excessive Motor Vibration or Noise

Fault causes: The brake disc is unbalanced or broken;   the brake disc is not fastened;   the bearing is out of oil or has failed;   the gears are not meshing smoothly, are out of oil, or are severely worn;   motor current noise or vibration.

Treatment methods: Replace the brake disc or re-adjust its balance;   tighten the brake disc nuts;   replace the bearing;   repair the gear at the motor shaft output end, lubricate it, or replace it;   check the motor and replace it if it is damaged.
